Susan Jannie Freeman Johnson, 59, of Lewis Mizelle Road, died Thursday October 18, 2018 at her home. She was born in Hertford County to the late Charlie Joe and Zena Elizabeth Mizelle Freeman. Janie was an active member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. She was a nurse at Roanoke-Landing Nursing Home in Plymouth with 38 years of service.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Elm Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Rev. Preston Jernigan will officiate.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Lewis Johnson of the home; daughter, Jaelyn Michelle Johnson and friend James Bassford of Colerain; sons, Joseph Michael Johnson and wife Kristy, Jessie Curtis Johnson all of Colerain, Jeremy Lewis Johnson and wife Kelly of Hatteras; sisters Paula Freeman of Colerain, Joie Gatewood of Houston, TX; brother, Chris Freeman of Colerain; grandchildren, Addison Grace, Reagan, Haven, Gunner and Landon Johnson; best friend, Donna Mizelle of Colerain; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and from the home at other times. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Dr. # 8, Greenville, NC 27834 or to the family at 131 Lewis Mizelle Road, Colerain, NC 27924 to help the family with expenses.
